Illustrator, writer and all round nice chap Graham Rawle has a lovely new website, choc-a-bloc with nice things to look at including a preview of Graham's amazing new book 'The Wizard of Oz', out October 1st. I've spent the last few weeks programming the site in my spare time and it's been well worth it, go see!

Old Stuff

Thought I'd put a few really old bits of work up on here, before the days of computer trickery just paint, stencils and a nice big canvas. These pieces date from '96 - '98 when I was still at college. 'New York street scene' appeared in 'Pen & Mouse' by Angus Hyland back in 2001 alongside 'The assassination of Martin Luther King' which was my exam project whilst at Brighton University. 'Neil Armstrong' was my first piece of stencilled work.

Mr Wonder

Another Illustration i finished last week, Stevie Wonder appears in todays Sunday Telegraph Magazine. I think this is the third, maybe fourth time I've been asked to Illustrate Mr Wonder. Below is the portrait from 1999 that appeared in the now sadly defunct 'Straight No Chaser' magazine, which I very strangely once saw in the window of an estate agents adorning the wall of a swanky loft apartment, someone was making cheeky copies me thinks!

Well seeing as you asked, I'm currently working on a few different projects. Another record sleeve for Defected for Studio Apartment, some Illustrations for Samsung with Peepshow, something for a new ITV children's series with music by Take That's Gary Barlow and Illustrations for The Telegraph & TimeOut. I'm also in the middle of updating the Peepshow website with all the goodness from the past year and building Graham Rawle's all singing and dancing new website. Quite a lot all in all. Fun Fun.

Invisible

Ok, so I've not had a great deal of new work on my website for a while now, but that's because I've been working on something a little bit different.
After nine months of meetings, trying things out, failing, starting over again, intense work and battling with vectors (which I was never good at), this Friday sees the launch of a project I and Lucy from Peepshow have supplied all the Illustrations for. Part of Channel Four's 'Big Art Project', 'Invisible' by Greyworld, is an enormous outdoor UV stencil and projection installation set across Burnley in the UK. The opening is this Friday in Burnley Town centre from 6pm. You wanna see a whole bunch of 18ft high Invisible Illustrations you can only see under UV light at hidden locations across the town....you know where to go. I think its in place for three years, so you've got plenty of time. A documentary on Channel Four follows later in the year.

More details soon.

Brighton Moment

Just finished this Illustration of West Pier for a limited book that's out in May called 'The Brighton Moment' that Lawrence Zeegen in working on. A lot of great Illustrators are involved that all have a connection to Brighton. I studied at Brighton between 1995-1998, and this Illustration shows the Pier in its decrepit state at the time before it was set fire to a couple of times a few years ago, not much left now.

In the House

I was asked by Peter Chadwick at Popular Design to Illustrate the cover of 'Gilles Peterson In the House', a new compilation on Defected Records, released 28th January. Available on Amazon here, and as a series of downloadable wallpapers here. Posters all over London at the minute.
